The Düsseldorf sculptor
Rudolf Zieseniss worked in various ways in plaster, bronze and stone and has several works in public space. Among these are the Ahse bridge in Hamm (Westphalia) with four happy putti riding on mythical aquatic animals, a bronze equestrian statue of an Amazon in Timmendorfer Strand, a fallen soldier in bronze on a war-memorial in Hungen, and a large figure of a minor in Stone on a grave in Cologne.
R. Zieseniss was married a total of three times and had a son, Raimund (*1909) who became an architect, and a daughter, Maria-Luise (*1933). Since May 1949 he lived in his own house in the Düsseldorf suburb of Lohausen until his death on April 4, 1959.
From the landscape painter Heinrich Zieseniss two undated works with the signature H ZIESENISS (bottom right) are part of Zi-fec collection:
1. A Mediterranean harbor view
2. An alpine landscape with a label on the back of the picture of Rahmenfabrik Ludwig Heidkamp, Düsseldorf
Other works preserved by his descendants inculde drawings in watercolor which H. Zieseniss made when he took part in World War I at the German eastern front in 1915.
H. Zieseniss was a brother of the sculptor Rudolf Zieseniss and also lived in Düsseldorf for the main time of his life.
